Designing for the Next Generation of Digital Customers

Millennials and the Gen Z – Born after 1982. A different world, a different worldview. The Digital Generation has grown up in a time of rapid change, giving them a set of priorities and expectations sharply different from previous generations. In 2 years, millennials will make up fifty percent of the modern workplace; in 7 years, it will rise to 75%.

Serving the next generation of customers requires companies, both big and small, to digitally transform, and to “design” their strategies differently. The questions this session wants to answer are simple: what does it mean to “design” for the next generation? How do you foster new ideas in a legacy company and design an innovation strategy to future proof your business? This talk will dig deep on culture and on experience as the main driver of a good innovation design. It will also give an introduction to user experience design for corporate innovators and executives.

Head of Innovation, InLife Innovation Lab at Insular Life

After pursuing graduate studies at Stanford University at the age of 20, Fam became one of Silicon Valley’s youngest VCs, focusing on user experience, corporate innovation and startup collaboration. She assessed founders and teams, analyzed business models and product-market fit, helped a number of companies market their brands, look for corporations they can partner with, and tailor their products to acquire more users. Fam has reviewed over 1000+ startups around the world for potential investments and partnerships with F500 companies. She has also co-founded the PnP Travel and Hospitality Innovation Platform, an incubator in Silicon Valley, in partnership with JetBlue Ventures, Lufthansa Innovation Hub, and more.

Fam managed 25 tech companies as the Head of Ventures and Advisory at Launchgarage Innovation Hub, while co-teaching a Leadership & Strategy class to business management students. Currently, Fam is one of the youngest senior executives in APAC, as she heads the Innovation Division at Insular Life, a multi-billion dollar financial institution and the largest Filipino mutual insurance company. She is responsible for creating a long-term Innovation strategy to achieve business goals and future proof the business, for the implementation of approved innovation projects, and for championing the culture of innovation in the organization.
