Outside-in Open Innovation: Choosing The Right Battles? Stakeholder Engagement To Traction

More and more companies are turning to Open Innovation (OI) platform – both with customers and industry players to gain early access to new and diverse ideas/ solutions to various challenges. As companies and start-ups compete for ideas and capabilities in an open market, the ability to effectively source them, reducing go-to-market, reducing development cycle and lowering costs will become a competitive advantage. There is also an increase seen in the industry for funding mechanisms to build new products or new services.

Incremental or radical innovation – both can benefit from Open Innovation. But OI comes with it’s own set of challenges, let’s say, interesting battles! And choosing the right ones makes or breaks progress. During our 2 hour bite size (case study based) hands on workshop you will discover and have access to simple tools for going from various steps of engagement to traction –

  • Understand stakeholders styles
    • Based on engagement levels. Eg: unaware, resistant, supportive, active lead
  • Managing them
    • Internally and externally
  • Project charter
  • Co-creating and collaboration
  • Negotiating
  • Group decision making techniques
    • Styles – Command, Consultative, Consensus
    • Methods – Unanimity, Majority, Autocratic, Voting
  • Conflict of interest
    • Set up a clear test & learn path
    • Knowing the signs that it’s not working
    • How to have the difficult conversation
    • Closing amicably or with minimal impact
