Combining Intrapreneurship and Corporate Entrepreneurship to Maximize Innovation Success

Disruptive business innovation has become increasingly important and corporate management has understood that the demand can be answered from within (Intrapreneurship) and externally (Corporate Entrepreneurship). Both approaches have their pros and cons, thus implementing both holds the opportunity of maximizing the success of corporate business innovation.

This practical example by the leading German innovation hub in the energy sector at EnBW and one of Europes leading venture builders Bridgemaker shows how harmonizing both approaches in a single innovation hub enables the corporate to find the best answer to business innovation challenges.

Christine Wienhold is the archetype of a successful EnBW manager. Starting her career as a corporate trainee and two years of innovation work in EnBW supply chain unit, she joined the newly formed Business Innovation hub and established EnBWs entrepreneurship programme „SP4RK“.Christine today is responsible for more than 10 different startups and intrapreneurship teams. Together with Bridgemaker she has successfully conducted several entrepreneurship projects and co-initiated the founding of several promising startups. EnBW is named a leader in intrapreneurship by several different initiatives.


Kilian Veer, Partner, Bridgemaker GmBH

After starting his career at PayPal and several years in Management Consulting Kilian established one of Germans highest ranked digitalization and incubation units at QIAGEN, a world-leading biotech manufacturer. Inspired by his former Employer he co-founded ZAGENO, the world leading Life Science Market Place which now is active in the U.S., Canada, G.B. and Germany. Since 2018 the former Entrepreneur is Partner at one of Europes leading venture builders, Bridgemaker. At Bridgemaker Kilian co-founds several start-ups each year together with European industry leaders such as EnBW.
