About the session

We don’t have time to invent the wheel over and over again in developing solutions in the Energy Transition. Our panel members each have deep experience in driving actual value by developing and driving ecosystems for open innovations, in close collaboration between peers, and the global innovation community. They will share their experience in desiging the programs and share the GOOD the BAD and the UGLY stories about how to make innovation partnerships work for all stakeholders.

About the speaker

Pieter Paul is a firm believer in collaborative innovation. He has shaped many open innovation programs for corporates and governments. Loves making an impact by bringing parties together that can accelerate innovation together. He is the co-founder of Rethinking Energy – a global collaborative Open Innovation program, designed to help accelerate the energy transition by connecting challenges with globally proven solutions.

Ana has over 20 years of experience in innovation & tech transfer. She began as a researcher in San Francisco with a Fulbright scholarship and moved to become a corporate entrepreneur. She drives growth and innovation through technology, startups and ecosystems development. Ana graduated in Microbiology by the Portuguese Catholic University and has an MBA from Porto Business School, where she is an Invited Professor. She is also an Expert Evaluator in Horizon Europe for European Commission

Ricardo Marvão is a key figure in Portugal’s thriving startup ecosystem. He drives initiatives based on collaborative innovation. It builds on his experience working in the public sector, building ecosystems and mentoring entrepreneurship. Ricardo is also a jury at the European Innovation Council for the European Commission. He’s someone who has been at the forefront of developing and exploring synergies between the public and private spheres – looking at how connections can positively influence tomorrow. He likes to leverage acceleration expertise and global networks to help ecosystems grow, connecting a huge network of entrepreneurs, mentors, experts, investors and knowledge institutions to solve things that matter.

Tomás Moreno is head Innovation Ecosystem at utility Energias de Portugal (EDP), with responsibilities ranging from the development of partnerships to the sourcing of innovative smart energy solutions. He is also a founding member of Free Electrons, a global alliance originally formed by eight energy utilities to build an international startup accelerator program. The ten utilities that currently participate in Free Electrons cover 76 million customers in 40 countries and have a combined turnover of $163 billion.

Ferry is a global leader in energy transition, aiming to make a change in sustainability through open innovation and collaboration. He leads ETCA, one of the largest open campuses for working on Energy Transition innovation and technologies in the world. This is where new ideas, technology and decades of experience come together to meet the energy needs of today and tomorrow. The campus is set up to successfully navigate the energy transition. Together with Shell, start-ups, scale-ups, research institutes, academia and mature companies have the opportunity to collaborate and innovate to develop solutions for the energy transition."
