About the session
We often avoid confronting uncomfortable topics like sex, mental health, personal finance, or addiction. Because they’re not talked about, they’re often overlooked in the business world. But taboos can be rich business opportunities where we can design to solve important unmet needs and capture value at the same time.
Join us for a fireside chat with Kerry O’Connor, women’s health entrepreneur & design practitioner and educator. We’ll chat about:
- Uncovering business opportunities by finding what’s unspoken
- Bringing products to market that address social taboos
- Connecting your products to those who need it most
About the speaker
Kerry O'Connor takes a life-centered design approach to designing new user experiences and elegant business models. She is a co-founder of a medical device startup where she commercialized a revolutionary expanding vaginal dilator, with a second product currently in FDA trials. Kerry became a teacher and practitioner of human-centered design over 13 years at IDEO, a design and innovation consultancy. Today Kerry teaches in the graduate program at Stanford's d.school on the topic of responsibility in design, and consults to companies ranging from startups to multinationals. Kerry holds a degree in Anthropology from Boston University and a MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business.
