About the session

Come learn about our multi-year journey to create a system of impact and growth in a mission-driven organization. Today, we are in the midst of a complex 2000+ person redesign, which is the culmination (but not end) of that journey. Reflecting on these years has offered me, and hopefully will provide you, with insight into the challenges and lessons learned about innovation—both incremental and transformative—in a large organization that both craves and struggles with change.

About the speaker

Andrea Mohamed is Vice President of Strategy, Innovation, Marketing and Communications for the largest of RTI International’s business units—Social, Statistical, and Environmental Sciences (SSES). SSES accounts for over $750M in annual revenue and is home to approximately 3,000 researchers, technologists, methodologists, data scientists and data collection contractors working in health, education, justice, and climate change.

Andrea has led or co-led many successful initiatives that span RTI’s business and administrative units. She has been an enterprise leader coordinating RTI’s research response to COVID and other emerging health crises such as the opioid crisis and serving as a strategic advisor to RTI’s artificial intelligence and digital transformation efforts. In addition, over the past 7 years, she has spearheaded efforts to build a digital-first, client-centered marketing infrastructure for RTI. Her current efforts are focused on leading a 3000-person organizational redesign, maturing the growth functions, leading culture change, and building greater strategic alignment throughout the organization to drive revenue and impact.

Andrea is a courageous leader and committed to addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion challenges in work environments. She is also a Young-at-Heart Champion and senior advisor to RTI’s 500-person Young Professionals Employee Resource Group.
