Decision Making in Complexity

Anne Caspari

Complexity Partner at EZC

as recorded on 12 January 2022 as part of Innov8rs Connect on Careers & Personal Development

Despite the importance, impact and frequency with which we make decisions on a daily basis, the actual process of making a decision is surprisingly unknown to us. On top of that, depending on the context, like the level of complexity, these approaches are subject to completely different dynamics. An excellent real-time decision-making support is Dave Snowden’s Cynefin Framework. It helps to differentiate between different contexts with different approaches.

In this interactive Learning Lab, you will learn
• a review of general decision-making processes
• a way to identify different key contexts and key approaches to decision making
• a dive into the complex domains

About the speaker

Anne Caspari has been in the complexity business for more than 3 decades: first with environmental planning and working with ecosystems; and in the last 20 years, working as a coach for leadership and organisational development. Getting exposed to complexity thinking and sense-making years ago was a natural fit for Anne and her practice. There is a distinct quality that defines leading, consulting or development, or decision-making from a complexity viewpoint. You get to draw on a multitude of perspectives that tends to provide more answers and insights to shifting today’s challenging patterns than linear problem solving does.
